Meet Phil
I’m the owner of All Things Locks , an independent locksmith serving homes and businesses across Carmarthenshire.
My approach has always been simple – explain the problem honestly, repair before replacing where possible, and treat every customer the way I’d want my own family to be treated.
I didn’t grow up knowing I was going to become a locksmith, but looking back, my career has always revolved around one thing – protecting people and property.
It started when I was a teenager after watching a documentary about a locksmith in London. I remember thinking how interesting the job looked and, from that point on, every career choice I made naturally seemed to follow a similar path.
I served in the Army before spending nearly two decades working within the Ministry of Justice, alongside other roles in security and enforcement. Those experiences taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think clearly in difficult situations and, most importantly, treat people with respect when they’re often at their most vulnerable.
Eventually, I decided it was time to retrain and turn that lifelong interest into a career. I completed professional locksmith training and founded All Things Locks with a simple goal – to offer an honest, reliable locksmith service where customers always know exactly who they’re dealing with.
Today, whether I’m helping someone who’s locked out, repairing a faulty uPVC door or cutting a specialist key to code, I still approach every job with the same mindset I’ve carried throughout my career – solve the problem properly, explain everything clearly and leave every customer feeling they’ve made the right call.
One of the things I enjoy most about the trade is solving problems that other people think can’t be fixed.
Sometimes that’s repairing a uPVC door that somebody has been told needs replacing. Other times it’s cutting a key to code when the original has been lost, or cloning a fob or remote that nobody else locally seems able to do.
Over the years I’ve invested in specialist equipment because it gives me more ways to help my customers. But the equipment is only part of it. Knowing how different locks, doors and security systems work – and recognising when something can be repaired instead of replaced – comes from years of experience in the trade.
The industry is changing, and rightly so. More attention is being given to rogue locksmiths and the damage they cause to both customers and the reputation of the trade. That’s one of the reasons becoming Trading Standards Approved was so important to me. I want people to know they’re inviting someone into their home who takes pride in doing the job properly, charging fairly and treating every customer with honesty and respect.
Whether I’m using the latest technology to cut a key to code or relying on years of experience to repair a lock that others would simply replace, my aim is always the same – to find the right solution and leave every customer knowing they’ve made the right choice.
Choosing a locksmith often means inviting someone into your home during a stressful situation. That’s why I believe the experiences of previous customers say far more than anything I could write about myself.
